Summer is the season enjoyed in Mt. Gretna Since 1883 when the Pennsylvania
National Guard - 28th Division Infantry and Calvary had their first
encampment. In 1892 the Pennsylvania Chautauqua Society and the U.B.E.
Church settled here and enjoyed the cool summers for their religious
and cultural events. We are fortunate to still enjoy these events
over 100 years later. Walk through the victorian village and experience
the relaxed serenity that has been the mainstay here for all to enjoy.
With 4000+ acres of forest surronding us and miles of trails within,
a Rail Trail of 20 miles centered in Mt. Gretna and the quaint village
itself, this is an outdoor dreamworld. Live, professional theatre
since 1927, world class Chamber music and selected evenings of Jazz
since 1976, along with a varied Chautauqua series of programs completes
the "Gretna Experience" of outstanding cultural activities.
